Up for auction today and brought to you by Corvette Collection in Plainfield Illinois is this awesome, rare and extremely hard to find 1962 Corvette Convertible SURVIVOR with an original 88219 miles. This vehicle is matching numbers 327/300HP with a 4spd trans and was judged at Bloomington Gold the grandfather of Corvette Shows in 1990 when it was awarded a SURVIVOR award. As the name implies, Corvettes that have never been restored have survived intentional or unintentional loss of original markings, paint, and components. Corvettes remaining over 50% unrestored or unmodified may qualify for this award if they remain in a condition that would serve well as a historic guide for others who want to restore a Corvette of that vintage and type. Survivors must be at least 20 years old and pass at least three of four categories of exterior, interior, engine/compartment, and chassis. Since the judging was performed the interior has been restored with original style seat covers and carpet from AL KNOCK. The body, very solid, has been repainted years ago and is not in showroom condition but good for its age. Chrome bumpers and trim are in good condition with no major pitting or rust. Overall body is solid with minimal repairs performed. Interior like said earlier has had some restoration since judging but only seat covers and carpet. Gauges and dash are original and working. Frame is all original and unrestored and very solid. Brakes were just maintained 1 year ago and are working great. Clutch is excellent as well as transmission and linkage. Tires are fairly old although they have plenty of tread remaining they are a bit dry rotten. The last owner was known to still drive the car around town to local shows however it probably would not be recommended to go any distance with them or high speeds. New tires would probably be recommended if you are planning on driving this vehicle. Engine compartment has been detailed a few years ago however everything is still original. One of the 327 stickers is missing but we have one to replace it in stock and will put it on if the high bidder chooses us to. All shielding is in place around spark plug wires and distributor. Overall a highly collectable car. If you are looking for a great first generation car that runs and drives great and is highly original this is the one. If you have any specific questions before bidding please call me at 815 693 9165 and ask for Greg from 9 AM to 9 PM. I will be happy to answer any questions that I haven't already answered. The car is available for you to look at if you are in the area please stop in and view it in our showroom. This will be a private auction so none of my bidders will be subject to solicitation by other Corvette sellers. This description is guaranteed to be as accurate as we could state, if this car is not what we have stated the top bidder will not be liable for purchasing it. This is a binding contract so please only bid if you are ready to purchase. Good Luck bidding and bid to win! Thanks for checking us out at www.corvettecollection.com.
